Overview

Background: The company was seeing a dropoff rate of over 40% for their current onboarding flow for the Survey Wall experience. My first task at the company was to look at improving the onboarding flow with the RX Product Lead & development team.

Challenge:

  1. Understand why and where dropoffs were happening for users.

  2. Ensuring we were still meeting business requirements for legal and information needed to complete a profile.

  3. Working with global compliance standards for data collection.

Solution:

  1. Mapping it all out: I spent some time mapping out our flow compared to several competitors to help me understand a couple key items:

    1. How many questions were being asked by us vs. our competitors

    2. Which questions were being asked

    3. What was the order the questions were being asked

  2. Make it easier to answer questions: We worked to simplify answering questions by pulling data where we could and pre-filling any inputs we could align that data to so the users could just answer tap continue if it was correct. For more complex questions we simplified the layouts and added QoL feature like a search bar.

  3. Rework permissions page: By adding more visuals and clearer content we were able to increase trust from the users and reduce confusion on what would happen next.

Outcome:

After several iterations we came to a final design that once implemented increased our onboarding success by 33%!
